Aniara – a collaboration between Moomsteatern and Skånes Dansteater

Skånes Dansteater

18 Oct, 2024 - 23 Nov, 2024

In autumn 2024, Skånes Dansteater and Moomsteatern create a joint production based on Harry Martinson’s verse epic Aniara. It will be a grand performance accompanied by symphonic soundscapes choreographed and directed by Carl Knif.

Aniara opens on 18 October 2024. Book your tickets via Skånes Dansteater.

In the performance Aniara, Moomsteatern’s actors and Skånes Dansteater’s dancers meet for the first time to combine dance, music and theatre. For both companies, it is a long-awaited collaboration.

Aniara is a performance that combines dance and theater and is based on the Swedish author Harry Martinson’s book of the same name.

In Aniara, the earth is called Doris and it is being destroyed by the way people live their lives. Those who can are now fleeing the planet Doris. Aniara is the name of one of the spaceships that travel back and forth from Doris to the refugees’ new home planet Tundrakloten.

During one of these trips, something unexpected happens. Aniara collides with a smaller planet and starts to get lost. What happens to the passengers and staff at Aniara? What do they feel? How do they try to save themselves? What do they want most of all?
